| :: Download the PDF version | Eden Project, England Click picture to enlarge. The Eden Project, in Cornwall England, contains the 2 (with a 3rd planned) largest greenhouses in the world. The humid tropics biome, the mediteranean biome, and a planned dry tropic biome, contain plants representative of those ecotypes. It is a hugely successful tourism, education and economic development project, having hosted 5 million visitors in just over 2 years. Since it’s conception, founders of the Eden Project planned to construct a canopy walkway to imitate those that exist in reality in the tropics. Greenheart has been contracted to design and build a canopy walkway in the humid tropics biome. This will be a wheelchair accessible facility, that meets new EU building codes for wheelchair access. It will be approximately 350m long and climb above the tropical plants. Towers will be aluminum clusters of tubes that mimic real trees, each different, with a canopy for shade and lighting that mimic the canopy of real trees. Visit Eden Project website, and take a virtual tour of the site. Look for the canopy walkway to be added to this site in the near future: For information contact
